Start app offline

The Android and iOS app from Testify can be started when the device is offline. The prerequisite for this is that the user was already logged in once before and the app was not completely closed. This automatically keeps the user logged in. The session can thus be restored.

Offline data

Testify also enables it’s user to continue working without an internet connection. With the exception of checklist attachments (from the Designer), all feature are available in the cache version, i.e. all checks including measuring equipment, comments and photo feature. When the Internet connection is re-established, the entries made are synced online again. In the “Offline data“ tab the user can see all issues, checklists and test objects that can be edited while being offline.

Issues

Issues are automatically available and editable offline. Exceptions are issues that have been manually removed from the offline data.

The issue creation process is available offline, with and without test object assignment. After working on offline issues, they are displayed as "to be synchronized". When the online connection is restored, the issues are automatically synchronized.

Test objects

All test objects are automatically available offline for the entire issue creation process.

Under Offline data / Test objects, the most frequently used test objects are displayed to which an issue is assigned.

Checklists

All checklists and issues that have been instantiated can be taken offline. To do this, the user must either go to "View tasks" or "Issue/Checklist search". When the user selects the option "take offline" in the context menu then this checklist/issue is taken offline and displayed in "Offline data". Now the instantiated checklists for the respective test objects can be used offline with the last status of the loaded data.

Important note: The check type "Test object selection" cannot be performed offline.

Taking checklists offline is not possible for checklists that have already been completed.

A checklist that has already been started and opened by the user in online mode is automatically cached in the device memory. If the connection is interrupted during execution, the checklist can be completed without any problems. Automatic downloading of the checklist is only possible for a currently started checklist.

Key users can activate this feature through the Testify Solution Team.

Synchronization

After working on offline checklists and issues they will be displayed as “to be synced“. When the online connection is restored, they are automatically synchronised. During synchronisation, editing is not possible. Any related workflows (e.g. creating a PDF protocol after checklist completion) are triggered only after complete synchronisation.

If you have been working offline, make sure that the data has been synchronized before you leave the system or log off. If there are still issues or checklists in the section "to be synced", not all data has been synchronized yet. Connect to the network and wait until all data is synchronized. Then you can log off or close the system without losing any data.

If the automatic synchronization fails, it can be triggered manually via the "Sync offline data" button.

This feature cannot be enabled if Bundle and Execute is enabled.
